1 Role of the SAG

• detailed scientific mission objectives
• the compatibility of technical specifications and scientiufic objectives
• campaigns and annoucement of opportunity exercises
• data processing and algorithm development
• characterisation, validation and calibration
• scientific activities required to support the development of the instrument
• scientific activities for supporting data exploitation

The SAG is chaired with the LI and co chaired by the Co-LI. The Earth Science division organises and convene the SAG Meetings.
The SMOS SAG was initiated in 2000 for phases A and B and was renewed in 2004 for the phase C/D
 

2. Participants

We are all very thankful to the first SAG for the very positive and active role it played during phases A and B. For Phse C/D it was decided to renew the SAG as it is customary. The scope shifted from definition to applications. The participants to the New SAG are listed below :
